This is where I show all the weird and cool things I found on my journeys through the world wide web!
Note: A lot of these sites are very old, so the connection might be unstable, proceed with caution!
Are you an aspiring artist? I am. This are just some sites I find myself often coming to when I need inspiration, they all host tons of official artwork from artists, primarily, in the animation industry. The last two also feature a lot of behind the scenes work from Cartoons and Anime, especially great resources if you want to study specific characters or artstyles.
The world is full of wonders, and the Eastern Island Moai heads are one of them. Apparently the Japanese are very fascinated by them, and this guy is trying to find a way to make them walk. Strange, but interesting nonetheless.
Here's a relic from the very early days of animation fandom, and by extension, Furries and Anime too. He worked in the animation iundustry since the 70's, everyone from Disney, Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera to Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, was acquainted with Don Bluth himself and was one of the earliest people in the US with an interest in Anime. Cool shit if you're interested in the history of animation and fandoms like these.
Are you nostalgic for the good ol' days of early flash animations? Or you simply want to explore the uncharted territories of old school newgrounds animations made by 15 year olds in their bedrooms? This is bassically MyRetroTV but for Newgrounds. Everything from offensive parodies to Sonic vs Goku Sprite Animations, you'll never know what will show up next...
We all have our favorite card games. Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic... Mine is Wikipedia! Yes, someone turned the free encyclopedia into a card game, every article has it's own stats, types and rarities, and you can fight against other people or the computer with them, just like an actual, easy to understand, Trading Card Game!
As a nerdy creative myself, I perfectly understand the compulsion to hide characters from movies, games or tv shows I like in my own works. Contrary to popular belief, anime isn't free from gratitous refferences. Did you know Lupin III made a lot of cameos in Urusei Yatsura? What the hell is Gu Gu Ganmo and why was it everywhere? Daicon4Ever is a site that compiles anime refferences within other anime. Trust me, you'll have to squint your eyes to notice some of these, it's weirdly addictive.
Another gem of early Otaku culture, this is a still running archive of anime conventions ranging from pretty recent to nearly 30 years ago. If you wanna know what being an anime fan was like 30 years ago, weither you actually lived then or not, then this might give you a pretty good taste of it.
Ever wondered what happens when you let meat rot in someone else's backyard? no? Anyways, this guy thought it would be a good idea to prank his neighbor and document it on the internet, for everyone to see! (WARNING: the results are disgusting)
Every year, Google kills off another service anybody barely used. This is a sad memorial to all of those failed and discontinued products you probably didn't even know existed until now.
